Case Study 04
SpaceWERX + AFWERX

The most traditional application of live visual note-taking is in large group debriefs, conversations,

panels, and presentations. This is how we capture

the convergence of thinking, realizing where we align, identifying where we deviate, and unlocking big AHAs.

Again, credit to the design and facilitation of this program, challenge definition workshops, goes to my incredible trusted partners at theDifference. Click here to see their exceptional work...

Why is this Group Gathering? Who is Here? What is the Program All About? A Visual Synopsis.

The most common way to utilize a live visual note-taker is in a large group. The opening remarks show the audience that there is something different about the meeting that they are about to embark upon. The facilitator gives context as to what the challenge is, how the contracting works, what the focus will be over the next few hours or days, and how to best utilize the space, time, and each other.

Focus Group Activity: Learnings for Identified Key Areas

The engagement team worked with the facilitation team to identify key focus areas for this challenge. The group breaks out into sub-groups and rotates through the areas to learn about each, in this instance: Bus Design, Edge Compute & Algorithms, and Sensor Payloads.

After the whole group has visited each sub-group, they come together for another moment of convergence sharing their key learnings. The visual capture of each group was performed in real-time as they reported.

Pivoting: What have we Missed? What are Some Key Considerations Moving Forward?

A pivotal moment in these challenge definition workshops is when we give the participants a chance to reflect on what's missing? This is time for reactions to what they've heard or learned along the way and captured live visually in real-time.

Creating a Lasting Impact

The live visual notes are shared in a communication piece with emails for industry and academia to reconnect and create solutions together. The drawings serve as a way to recount conversations and communicate them out to others on their teams who could not attend the challenge definition workshop in person.
